Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to the 1800-BALI-NANNIES FAQ page. We know that your family’s safety and peace of mind are your absolute top priorities when holidaying abroad. As an Australian-owned and locally-coordinated network, we are dedicated to matching you with experienced, vetted, and deeply caring childcare professionals in Bali. Below, you will find answers to our most common questions about safety, booking logistics, and how we help your family enjoy a truly relaxing getaway.

How are the nannies vetted?
All nannies are carefully vetted before joining our network. This includes police checks, verified references, and mandatory childcare-related certifications.
We only work with nannies who are healthy, experienced with children, and have a strong history of being reliable, trustworthy, and on time.
Our nannies are not random hires or strangers. They are part of a trusted network that has worked together for years. We are highly selective about who we contract through 1800-BALI-NANNIES to ensure safe, high-quality care for every family.

Are the Nannies employees of your platform?
Every nanny listed in our directory operates completely as an independent service provider. However, to be part of our team they must undergo vigorous and extensive checks. We don't just allow anyone to be a nanny here.
1800-bali-nanny ensures that each nanny in our service is fully complaint at all times. That's the beauty of going through an agency!

Is 1800-BALI-NANNIES a registered business?
Yes. 1800-BALI-NANNIES is an Australian and New Zealand registered business. We are also fully insured.

Why was 1800-BALI-NANNIES created?
1800-BALI-NANNIES was created by parents who understand how difficult it can be to find safe, reliable, and trustworthy childcare while travelling in Bali.
Our service was built to give families peace of mind through carefully selected nannies, personalised matching, and responsive local support throughout your stay.
Many of our families travel with young children, large families, or children with additional needs, so we understand that every family is different and care should never feel “one size fits all”.

Who will I be communicating with?
Initial enquiries are often managed through WhatsApp or through our website. Your booking will then be carefully coordinated by our Bali-based coordination team, who help match each family with the most suitable nanny.
We work closely as a team to ensure the best experience for your family.

What ages do your nannies care for?
Our nannies care for children of all ages — from newborn babies through to teenagers.
We also support older children and teens with additional needs.

Do you support children with special needs?
Yes. We have some nannies experienced in supporting children with additional needs including autism, ADHD, sensory sensitivities, and developmental differences.
Please let us know about your child’s needs so we can carefully match the right nanny for your family.

Do your nannies speak English?
Yes. Our nannies speak good conversational English and regularly work with international families.

What areas do your nannies service?
We service most areas across Bali including Seminyak, Canggu, Kuta, Ubud, Uluwatu, Sanur, Nusa Dua, and surrounding areas.
If you are unsure whether we cover your location, please contact us to check availability.

What is the minimum booking?
The minimum booking for casual babysitting is 4 hours.

Do you require a deposit?
For longer bookings or during high season, nannies may require a 15% deposit to secure your booking. This is preferably paid via PayPal.
Deposits are generally non-refundable, as they are passed directly to the nanny to help offset lost income if a cancellation occurs. In exceptional circumstances, refunds may be considered.

When do I pay the nanny?
Payment is made directly to the nanny at the end of the day in IDR.
All pricing and booking details will be confirmed with you beforehand.

Can I tip my nanny?
Absolutely. Tipping is never expected, but it is always appreciated if you feel your nanny has provided exceptional care.

Do I need to provide meals for the nanny?
It is not required, however it is always appreciated. Many nannies will bring their own meals.

Will the nanny need a break?
Yes. For longer shifts (over 6 hours), please allow time for the nanny to sit down and eat.
This can often happen while still supervising the children if appropriate.

Do I need to pay for the nanny on outings?
Yes. If your nanny accompanies your family on outings, attractions, or activities, you will need to cover her admission fee.
Local admission pricing for Indonesians is usually very affordable.
What can the nanny do with my child?
Our nannies are experienced in adapting to different family routines and parenting styles.
They can:
-
Supervise and play with children
-
Swim with children and supervise water play
-
Prepare simple meals and bottles
-
Feed younger children
-
Assist with naps and bedtime routines
-
Supervise sleeping children
-

-

-

-

What can’t the nanny do?
Our nannies are focused on childcare and are not housekeepers or cleaners.
They generally do not complete heavy cleaning, family laundry, or cook large family meals. Their focus is on the safety, care, and comfort of your children.

What happens if my nanny is sick or unavailable?
In the rare event your nanny becomes unwell or unavailable, we will arrange a replacement nanny from our trusted team as quickly as possible.
Unlike independent nanny services, we operate as a coordinated network, allowing us to provide backup support when needed.

Do you offer airport transfers or drivers?
Yes. We work with our trusted driver Kadek, who can assist with airport pick-ups, drop-offs, and private transport around Bali.
Car seats are also available upon request.

What makes 1800-BALI-NANNIES different?
We are not an open marketplace or casual babysitting directory.
1800-BALI-NANNIES is a carefully managed network of trusted, long-term nannies who have worked together for years. We focus on safety, consistency, communication, and genuine care.
Families are personally matched with suitable nannies based on their needs, routines, and personalities. Many of our families return to Bali and request the same nanny year after year.
